GOLDEN WEDDING
The golden wedding of. Mr and Mrs Thomas Forsyth, late of Church street Parramatta, and now of Gaggin-street Parramatta, was celebrated at McKays dining-rooms and Saturday night, the 11th instant. Altogether 60 guests sat around the breakfast table.
Mr. Forsyth arrived in Australla with his parents when he was two years old, just 75 years ago, and was married in
1879 to Marla Louisa Smith, of Mamre, near St. Mary's. There are 7 children, 20 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren all of whom were present at the function, with the exception of one son, who gave his service and life for King and country in the Great War. The usual toasts were honored, and in his reply,Mr. Forsyth thanked all for the many salutation and kind wishes expsressed.
His reminiscences of early days were
Interesting, and he especially mentioned that it gave him great pleasure to be able to say that from among hls own
children, grandchildren and great-grand children, not one had been claimed by death, with the exceptton of the soldier
son. This, he believed record for celebration at a golden wedding.
The family presented Mr. Forsyth with a high-quality pipe, and Mrs. Forsyth with a handbag. There were also many
valuable presents amongst those brought by guests
