A fatal accident occurred at 7 o clock this evening at the level crossing over the Camperdown to Terang railway line, about 200 yards from the Terang station. The Timboon to Terang train, in charge of Driver John Holloway, Fireman James Luke and Guard. William Brown, crashed into a cart driven by Samuel Forsythe, a marine dealer, 69 years of age. Sidney Forsythe,the elder man's son, was driving in another vehicle behind his father, and on seeing the train approaching, he called out. Deceased apparently did not hear the warning, and he drove on to the rails as the engine reached the crossing. The horse was cut free, and Forsyth was carried along for about 60 yards with the cart. The driver pulled up the train in its own length, but Forsythe was cut to pieces, his head being crushed, one leg cut off, and one arm smashed. .
