Enlisted WW1 on 11 Feb 1916as Private in 3rd Field Ambulance, Army Medical Corps. Died of wounds 20 sept 1917
William George was born in East Maitland in 1886, married Florence Elizabeth Forsyth in 1914 in Chatswood, Sydney. He was a Minister in the Congregrational Church. William enlisted in the Army for service in WW1, assigned to the 3rd Field Ambulance Australian Medical Corps 1st December 1916. He left Australia on the RM "Sorontes" never to return. He died of wounds (compound fracture of left leg, gunshot wounds to face and scalp, recieved in battle at Polygon Woods Belgium. Plot X1X Row A, Grave no.15A. William amd Florence had one son, Clifford Vincent Hillcoat, born 19/2/1915.
