Mr William Henry Kells, who died yesterday, was one of the pioneers of the moving picture industry in New South Wales. He established the first picture show at Granville, when he was employed at the Clyde Engineering Company as a sub-contractor on the building of railway carriages He was also interested in the technical side of the picture industry and financed several Australian inventions. He was the eldest son of the late Mr James Kells one of the pioneers of the Ryde district, where he was educated and lived until he joined the gold lush to Coolgardie in 1895. He walked, with three Ryde companions from Albany to the goldfields.
