KNOCKED DOWN BY A TRAM.
Accident to a Child.
Amy Forsyth, aged 5, was conveyed to Prince Alfred Hospital this afternoon in a serious condition. It seems that about 2.40, this., afternoon she had occasion to go to the Enmore-road to purchase some articles for her parents, and when crossing the road was knocked down by a tram which had left Enmore terminus a few minutes previously. The child was wholly unconscious of her danger until the motor was but a few yards distant. Then she realised tier peril and made a rush to get clear of the line.
The driver of the tram, when he saw the child, endeavored to stop the motor, but he, like the girl, was too late, and she was struck by it, but fortunately was thrown clear of the rails. On being convoyed to the hospital it was found that she had sustained a compound fracture of the right arm, besides painful injuries to both legs.
