Mr. and Mrs. T. B. WYATT and FAMILY, of Manly, retern sincere THANKS to relatives and friends for kind expressions of sympathy received on the death of their uncle, the late Robert J. Forsyth.
Alderman Robert James Forsyth who was an Alderman with Canterbury Municipal Council from 1899 to 1902.
Robert James Forsyth purchased ' The Towers ' 31 Forsyth Street, Belmore from the builder, David Jones. A prominent rope making company, Archibald Forsyth & Co. , was named after Archibald Forsyth. Robert James Forsyth and his family lived in The Towers until Robert James' death in 1920, when most of the thirteen hectares of land adjoining The Towers was purchased by the War Service Homes Commission. When the War Service Homes Commission subdivided the area, four streets (Robert, Archibald, Roy, Forsyth) were named after Robert James' son, Robert Archibald (known as Roy) Forsyth. The Commission built houses on this land for soldiers returning from World War I and their families. Councillor Kayee Griffin unveiled a series of nameplates commemorating these street names on 11th November, 2000. Robert James Forsyth was an Alderman on Canterbury City Council from 1899-1902.
