OBITUARY.
EDWIN JAMES FORSYTH
A gloom was cast over the show yesterday by the sudden death on the ground of Mr E. J. Forsyth, of "Glenarchy" West Jindaree, a vice president of he Show Association, and one of the oldest members and trustees. Deceased, who was 63, had been ill. The family, did not think it wise for him to come in to the show; but he had always been an enthusiastic sup porter of the annual function, and felt that he must be among his old friends for the occasion. Chatting, with some friends, about 4 o'clock, he remarked, "I feel a pain here! '. putting his hand over his heart, but apparently neither he 'nor they thought it anything serious. Shortly afterwards he was strolling across the ring, by himself, and was seen to fall. Folk ran to him, and Dr. Brennan, who was on the ground, was called over; but, so far as we can hear, our old friend did not speak again. It was, indeed, a sudden call. The wife and the family were at the show, also a sister of deceased, Mrs. Chas. Ryalls, sen., who was on a visit. To all of them and other relatives the death was a great shock, as it was to the show officials with whom deceased had worked for so many years. He had been a member since the inception of the society, and still proudly kept a trophy he won at the first show, forty years ago. One of the most consistent annual exhibitors, at times his entries made a young show in themselves. For a district display Mr. "Eddie" Forsyth could always be relied upon to contribute a good variety of excellent quality, for he was one of the best of our farriers and graziers. The ring events were postponed for the balance of yesterday afternoon, out of respect; but the family later sent a message desiring that no further departures from the public programme be made, as they considered that deceased would have wished everything to go on in the usual way. The smoke social was, therefore, proceeded with last night, in a modified form. The sons and daughters are Arthur, Wallendbeen; Lou, Jindalee; George, Jindalee, and Misses Stella, Iris, Myrtle and Gwen. A son, Allen, was killed at the war. Mr. L. P. Forsyth, ex-Mayor of Wallendbeen, is a brother. The funeral was fixed for 2 o'clock this afternoon.
