The David and Mary Forsyth of Fall River, Massachusetts, US
NathanRich44 added this on 12 Dec 2013
There is a David and Mary Forsyth family who immigrated to Massachusetts. They are on the US census in Fall River, Massachusetts in 1870 with children James, age 28, Robert age 26, David age 21, Jane age 17, William age 15 and Mary age 6 all children except Mary were born in England. Several of their children died there: James born 1841 died 29 May 1875, Robert born 24 Nov 1842 died 6 Jul 1913, Ellen (Helen) born 1851 died 24 Jun 1867, William born 1854 died 19 Dec 1875 (single), Jane born 1853 died 22 Jul 1881 and Mary born in 1865 died 30 Jan 1891. The father David died there in 1897 at the age of 81. Their son Robert married in Betsy in 1873 and their son David was married in Massachusetts in 1906 to Pricilla Jones. The marriage record says he was the son of David Forsyth and Mary Morrison. It appears that the William who married Barbara Bell in 1879 in Cumberland was not the William born to this family.

The death occurred at Craig Bank, Hackham, on August 30, of Mr. David Smith Forsyth, one of the best-known and most highly respected residents of the Morphett Vale district. He was the son of the late Mr. John Forsyth, of the Education Department. He was born on August 19, 1851, at Nairne, and for some years carried on a butchering business at Glenelg. About 30 years ago he went to the Morphett Vale district, where he started, as a farmer and butcher. For many years he was a member of the Board of Advice, and nearly 20 years ago he was created a justice of the peace. He was a member of the Free-masons' and Oddfellows' Lodges of Glenelg, and for years was associated with the local literary society. He married, on March 26, 1872, Miss Harriet Cox, daughter of the late Mr. Henry Cox, of Aldinga. He left a widow, three sons (Messrs. E. D. and G. D. Forsyth, Western Australia, and W. Le R. Forsyth, Hackham), four daughters (Mrs. R. W. Smith, Maitland; Mrs. E. Gidley, Western Australia; Mrs. R. Williams, Hackha and Miss Forsyth, and 17 grandchildren. | David Smith FORSYTH

The Inverell Times Friday 11 February 1927 p 2
MEALE- FORSYTH,
St. Augustine's Church of England, Inverell, was the scene of quiet, though pretty wedding on Wednesday morning last when Dorothy Mabel, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John Forsyth, of "Yarranvale" Bukkulla, was joined in the holy bond of matrimony to John Stanley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Meale, of Goomoorah.Rev. E. H. Stammer was the celebrant.
The bride, who was given away by her father, was very beautifully, attired in a frock of white crepe de chene trimmed with a pleated panel. A white crinoline hat and parchment
shoes and stockings completed the very pretty effect. She also carried a prayer book. Miss Thelma Hamel attended the bride as bridesmaid and wore a dainty frock of mauve crepe
de chene with georgette sleeves to match. She also wore a black crinoline, hat trimmed with mauve and rose trimmings. Mr, Chris Neilson acted as best man.
The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a xylonite manicure set and to the bridesmaid a xylonite brush, comb, mirror and tray. The bride presented the bridegoom with a xylonite shaving
minor.
They later left on a motor tour, the bride travelling in a. cinnamon crepe de chicne, with hat and shoes to match.
Numerous gifts were received by the young couple who intend making "Strathvillon" Goomerah, their future home.
