SHOCKING OCCURRENCE AT MARULAN. TWO PERSONS KILLED BY LIGHT NING.
A shocking occurrence took place at Marulan at 5 o'clock on Sunday evening during a heavy thunder storm. A swagman, whose name is unknown, called at the back door of Mr. S. Williams' residence at what is known as Old Marulan, and, Lloyd Williams, aged 14 years, went to the door to see what the man wanted As he opened the door there was a very vivid flash of lightning. It killed the strange man instantaneously and he fell dead on the verandah. Young Williams was also struck and he fell in the doorway unconscious and died within fifteen minutes. The lightning paseed through the hall and took a thin shaving off the stock of a loaded gun which was standing muzzle downwards against the wall, without exploding the weapon, and eventually found an exit through a window. Mr. H. 0 Brien, Coroner, held a magisteriat inquiry at Marulan yesterday and gave a finding of accidental death.
Isahella Alexander Williams., wife of Mr. S.
